| About Me: |
I've always been in love with the ocean and with water sports, ever since I was a kid in San Diego. I grew up playing in our backyard swimming pool and spending weekends and summers at the beach. I started freediving and then scuba diving while a student at UC Berkeley, where I went through the rigorous scientific diving training, then went on to spend several years leading ecotours over the reefs of the Bahamas and Bay Islands (Honduras) while I picked up my instructor certification. I've been diving in a lot of "exotic" locations, from Scotland to the Galapagos to Tahiti, but I always come back to California and I never cease to be amazed by the phenomenal beauty of our local waters. I taught a lot of certification courses in the tropics and a few here in California, but then my own educational pursuits took me away from California for four years. Since returning to CA I've been back in the water a few times but haven't really been interested in teaching more courses. Now my "day job" runs my life & my free time is extremely limited, so when I do get a chance to get in the water, I either head north for abalone or south to shoot pictures with my housed DSLR. I'm interested in unique diving spots, underwater research projects, aquaculture, and other atypical diving experiences. |
